Return to index of stories... 		More New Hampshire Army reservists are getting ready to head overseas.
Friday - The Alpha Company of the 368th Engineering Batallion - will leave for an undisclosed location - as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Most of the 100 reservists live in the Rochester area. They'll be given a farwell ceremony Thursday at the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester.
As friends and family prepare to say goodbye to their loved ones, the probability of war with Iraq seems more certain. Late last week we spoke to Senator Judd Gregg about
that and a number of other issues.

"We get a lot of the same people writing in which is great because we love to know how people are feeling and what issues they have"
ISSUES LIKE THE WAR ON TERRORISM AND THE ECONOMY HAVE PROMPTED AN INCREASE IN PUBLIC COMMENT.
Congressman Jeb Bradley:
"Mail comes in and phone calls come in. I look through them as much as I can to understand what people are trying to express to me"
EVERY OFFICE HAS ITS OWN WAY OF SORTING OUT MAIL BUT MOST REPRESENTATIVES USE LEGISLATIVE CORRESPONDENTS LIKE MICHAEL LICATA.
Michael Licata:
"I'll go through it with Jeb, some will go over to legislative assistants to work on it with Jeb, some of the letters stay here for me to work on it with Jeb, once we feel a good draft, Jeb looks at the final draft and gives final approval and it gets sent out."
Congressman Jeb Bradley:
"It does take a few days certaintly to get a response out but we're trying to as quickly as we can."
BUT IS WRITING A LETTER THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE?
Nealiegh Mitchell:
"While you may think dropping a letter into your nearest mailbox is the most dependable and personalized way to reach your representative, its not the fastest. Every piece of mail now has to go to an off site security facility to be radiated and sorted before delivery, sometimes adding a 3-4 week delay. There is a quicker alternative."
REPRESENTATIVE BASS SAYS EMAIL IS THE FASTEST WAY TO REACH HIM
Congressman Charlie Bass:
"We've been getting between twenty-five to twenty-seven thousand pieces of mail a year, about 80% of it believe it or not is in the form of electronic mail and that's happened as a result of 9/11 and the anthrax scare and the fact that its very hard for a letter to arrive in a timely manner."
BESIDES RECEIVING AN ALMOST IMMEDIATE RESPONSE, LOGGING ON TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN'S WEBSITE CAN GIVE YOU A LOT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PARTICULAR CONCERN.

WHETHER YOU DECIDE TO WRITE A LETTER, TYPE AN EMAIL OR EVEN STOP BY THEIR WASHINGTON OFFICE, THE REPRESENTATIVES WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOUR OPINIONS ARE IMPORTANT TO THEM.
Charlie Bass:
"If its personalized it really represents an enormous amount of effort on the part of the constituent and I want them to know that I appreciate that."
